What is an Les form?

The Military Leave And Earnings Statement (LES) is basically a pay stub for military members. It also shows the amount of accrued leave time, any allotments the military member has, and even shows details of the member’s chosen retirement plan.

What is an LES in the military?

The LES is a comprehensive statement of a member’s leave and earnings showing your entitlements, deductions, allotments (fields not used for Reserve and National Guard members), leave information, tax withholding information, and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) information.

How do I read my Les?

Fields 1-9 focus on identification.

  1. NAME: This is the service member’s name listed Last, First, Middle Initial.
  2. SOC.
  3. GRADE: The service member’s current paygrade.
  4. PAY DATE: This is the Pay Entry Base Date (PEBD).
  5. YRS SVC: In two digits, the actual years of creditable service.

Why do I have a debt on my Les?

What does the term “Advance Debt” on my LES means? That is our military pay system’s way of notifying the member that they’ve been overpaid. This usually occurs during a PCS or a deployment, and the overpayment occurred in a previous months pay cycle.
