The LAPD Lateral Entry Program, Operation Blue to Blue, affords California POST Certificate Police Officers a chance to join the nation’s finest law enforcement agency. Officers who have excelled in their law enforcement careers and are up to the task of meeting the high standards of the LAPD can now apply.

What is post certification in CA?

The POST Professional Certificate Program fosters education, training, and professionalism in law enforcement; raises the level of competence of law enforcement officers; and fosters cooperation between the Commission, its clients, and individuals.

How do I get POST-certified?

Fill out the certification application. Provide all requested information such as a current photo, your residence and law enforcement work history, copies of your high school diploma or GED, birth certificate and entrance exam scores. Submit the application to your state POST council.

What does post training consist of?

It includes a minimum of 664 hours of POST-developed training and testing in 42 separate areas of instruction called Learning Domains. Most POST-certified basic training academies exceed the 664 hour minimum by 200 or more hours with some academies presenting over 1000 hours of training and testing.

Is LAPD academy live in?

A: It is not a live-in academy. Instruction is generally Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, with study time thereafter. You will have weekends and holidays off.
